The Angel Inn Garden Courtyard
Over the last few months, our guests have been enjoying a relaxing drink in our Garden Courtyard. The garden is looking wonderful and we are delighted to see all the plants doing so well despite the heatwave.
We are proud that our garden courtyard was conceived and designed by award-winning designer, Thomas Hoblyn.
Thomas Hoblyn Garden Design is based in a four-hundred-year-old converted barn in Bury St Edmonds, not far from Stoke-by-Nayland. When we started the refurbishment of The Angel Inn, we felt that Tom would be the perfect person to redesign our Garden Courtyard. We knew that Tom would be sympathetic to the landscape of the Dedham Vale and to our beautiful, heritage buildings.
We were delighted to hear that Tom won gold at RHS Chelsea 2022 with the Boodles Travel Garden, inspired by the round-the-world journey of Anthony Wainwright, father to the current chairman of Boodles, and designed as a calm space for rest and contemplation on the journey.
Now, a few months after our reopening, we are delighted with the Garden Courtyard, which is already thriving and giving great pleasure to everyone who works at and visits the Angel Inn. It is a peaceful and relaxing space and we look forward to seeing it continue to mature over many years to come.
