We can order you a morning newspaper, and are happy to give you an early morning call if you need to be up and about.

You’ll be very welcome for a drink and/or light refreshments at the bar downstairs, or for lunch and dinner in the dining room. Needless-to-say, if you would like anything brought to your room, simply let us know. If you’re here on holiday, we can make you a packed lunch to keep you going until you get back in the evening. The Angel also has a relaxing reading area, with free internet access, overlooking the pub’s original 52ft well.

We are 30 minutes from the Mersea Island coastline, 15 minutes from the historic town of Colchester, the oldest recorded in Britain, with its castle and award winning zoo, and 5 minutes from two eighteen-hole championship golf courses (www.stokebynaylandclub.co.uk) set in 300 acres of stunning landscape.

All rooms are non-smoking, parking is free and it’s easy to book on-line. Alternatively, please do call if you have questions or would like other information about the Angel and the surrounding countryside.
